14.Study : Comparing Culture2

Albert Schweitzer, the German philosopher, said a language and a culture was influenced by an environment.

France is a flat land, and people canhave a fine prospect .So, they have gotten a scent of danger by their eyes. That is why French have a sensitive color taste, and have brought remarkable painters to the world. The grammer of French language is not so complex and the whole image can be easily understood.

Germany, as depicted in Grim's Fairy Tales, most of the land is surrounded by dense forests.Since Germany in ancient times lived in the forests, they have to sense the dangerous sign by ear. So, they are good at hearing and many great classical musicians were from this country.Though the grammer of this language is complex like its dense forests, it is suitable for opera and recitation.

Russia is iced over through the most part of the year, and Russians cultivates their thought in their inner world. This is why Russian production, from novels to dramas, is very long. Russian language, because of nothing with the language contact, ancient Latin grammer has remained.

13.Study : Comparing Culture1

Expressing an affection in French,
preaching a sermon in German,
making a speech in English,
scolding a horse in Russian.

-----------------------------------------------------------
What country does understand most the plays by Shakespeare?
And so, They describes Shakespean plays with their specialized way.

Americans made a movie spending more than hundreds million dollers.
French performed innovative stages.
Japanese remaked them into Anime.
Italians chanted a canzone with a resounding voice.
Chinese depicted them on a single grain of rice.
Spanish ,inexplicably, fought with bulls.
Koreans insisted that Shakespeare was a Korean.

And, British criticized all of them theoretically.
----------------------------------------------------------
A ship was on fire. And captain ,to let people jump into the sea smoothly, told

British that gentlemans should dive into the sea in this case.
Germans that there is a rule to make a jump into the sea.
Americans that if you jumped, you could be tha champion!!
Russians that bottles of vodka were swept out to sea, you can get them if you follow right now.
French that you MUST NOT dive into the sea.
Japanese that all others have already jumped into the sea.
Chinese that many delicious fish live in this sea.
North-Koreans that it is the chance of escaping from your country.

And Osaka-people that Hanshin Tigers won the pcennant race!!

A sailor said to the captain,"hey, Koreans were still on the ship!"
"Let them lie!" the captain responsed.
"Why!?"
"They will make a claim for their soaking clothes."

10.Diary: IE-Writing

I didn't attend the IE-Writing class these days.

Why? You may think.
Though I will not tell in detail about that on this blog, I do it a little.

Now I have a serious family problems, and mentally knocked out.(>_<)
I know that Integrated English class cannnot allow me to be absent for more 4 times, and I have already been absent for that times. However, I told with the teacher and she gave me the chance. I have to try to answer the chance from now!

9.Study: Media Literacy for University Students

Generally, "Media Literacy" means the skill of getting useful information through various media such as the Internet, mass-media, and books. However, in this article, I want to say that the word has another meaning, especially for university students.

Since we are constantly bombarded with a large amount of information these days, getting information itself is very easy. It is analyzing and evaluating information through the ways of critical thinking that matters. Accepting uncritically is very dangerous.

Some of you may know the news of Himeyuri and Aoyama Gakuin High School's entrance exam. all of newspapers such as Yomiuri, Asahi, Mainichi reproached Aoyama Gakuin, and They had a interview with Himeyuri-Members and a professor of Okinawa International University.

Through reading such newspapers, you may think that how unforgivable behavior they did. However, You shouldn't think so before you read the examination text(Eng: JPN).

How do you think of it? You would have another impression about that, wouldn't you?

Of course, They must have not used the phrase" got tired". But Mass-Media cut it(only it!) out from text and accused it.As a student in a university, you have to learn the media literacy like this.

8.University: New Building in Aoyama Campus

※The category "University" tells you the latest news about Aoyama Gakuin University from my special(^^) information network.
this article was re-written on 14 June!

According to the source, There is a plan to build a new 10-13 story building in Aoyama Campus. This will be used as a combined media center, library and students' center like B building in Sagamihara Campus.

This plan is the part of the campus renewal project called "Project EVERGREEN21" .In December 2004, A committee for this building was wstablished and fifteen ideas were announced for public on the end of this May.

With the development of Information Technology, the role and needed ability of a university library has rapidly changed. Aoyama Gakuin says the facilities of the present library cannot respond it. This is why the medis-center-styled library is planed. Actually, the ex-chief of the library said so and hoped a new library on AGULI 58(LINK), the magazine for public relations.

In the plan, this building also has some students' lounge. Unlike Sagamihara Campus, there is few students's free space on Aoyama Campus. This may offer access to amenities for students. In addition, the junior college's library would be integrated.

However, some alumni are opposed to this idea. It is because the building area is planed the central of the campus where Majima Memorial Hall and University Library is. They have special feelings for Majima, but the plan suggests to remodel it, leaving only its frontest part.

Generally speaking, Almuni is regarded as the treasure for private schools. The committee have to deliberate again.

6.Joke: USA Is the Country Like That

They are going to fitness center for their exercise, but they use the escalator, not stairs.
This just a picture expresses nicely their paradox between sweets and bitters.

5.University: Intensive Second Foreign Language Course.

A professor of the comitee for Aoyama Standard Program says they will offer the intensive course of the second foreign language course that weekly meets 4 times for sophomores on next year. This is ,of course, an elective course for earning students, though.

Although I myself don't take the second course of SFL(Second foreign language), some students must think they want to improve their SFL abilities. But they cannot take this course, because of just a year.

Some people may think that what is important is self-learning, not curriculam.
Talking about language-learning, however, one-way method has the limit for improvement.

Do we have to take it good because our school is on innovation and younger students can have the better education?
Or, Do we think it is unfair in spite of paying same money for university?
That is the difficult problem...

4.Study: A Paper Dictionary

Now that many students in schools (including graduate school, university(undergraduate), senior and junior highschool) use an electronic dictionary for classes and assignments.
On the other way, most of the teachers and professors seems to be negative about students' use of electronic dictionary, thinking of the bad influence for learning effects: disable to memorize the meaning of the words.

I will not refer to the merits and demerits of it here, because that has already discussed by many people. It is the combination of paper and electronic dictionary that matters.

A famous interpreter says she uses both type of dictionaries by time: electronic dictionaries are used on her work site, but when in collecting and researching the information for it, she uses paper ones for memorizing meanings.

Until I bought a paper dictionary last Sunday, I had not had any paper dictionaries for a long time.(last time I paged a dictionary is when I was in junior high school!!)
It is because, of course, I was fascinated by the speedy results of electronic ones.

But I have always had a feeling of inferior complex about vocabulary in IE class for writing, listening, reading, and speaking in English.
So I really want to get over it. As one of the solution, I bought it.

An electronic dictionary is actually suitable for practical purposes, and a paper one is for learning ones.I, writing articles for this blog, am still using a web-based dictionary (kind of an electronic one).

3.Categories.

Most of the Japanese blog systems have "Categories" on config section.
With writing more and more articles, both readers and writers tend to be confused with the number of them: What article is my interesting field? I don't remember what this article is about?

"Categories" is the useful system to help us by fixing all the articles to the same(or related) themes.
While I don't know much about blogs on the world, "Blogger" doesn't have it.
I have not written so many articles, though. haha....

2.I'm alive

hmm.... I haven't written even one article on this blog for about a month...
So sorry for watchers and Mr. Richardson.
I have to change my mind... :(

I wrote journals almost every 2 days on IE1 & 2.Why did I blow it off in IE3? Perhaps, the blog is the cause.
Unlike the notebook-style journals on former IE class, we have no partners now.
The important part of the partners' role is as watchers'.
I had written journals for the partner, and on the next week, I had had comments form them.
But now, I don't.

Communication with people is a must for everything, I think.
I will suggest friends to write comments each other for our own blogs.
